Winning Stage 3 for CANYON SIDI at Cape Epic

Slavík Jiří

While in the first two stages the boys from CANYON SIDI were rather unlucky at the Absa Cape Epic, in the third stage they finally got on the right side and together with a perfectly planned strategy from team manager Kristian Hynek everything worked out and it was a well-deserved stage win for the elite duo of Andreas Seewald (GER) and Marc Stutzmann (SUI).With the help of Martin Stošek and Petr Vakoč from the support team, the boys built in the main field and unexpectedly attacked in the asphalt downhill, With the other teams unable to react, the elite duo crossed the finish line with a comfortable 49 second lead over the Toyota-Specialized-NinetyOne pair of Matthew Beers (JAR) and Howard Grotts (USA), followed a second later by the pair of Georg Egger (GER) and Lukas Baum (GER) from the Orbea Leatt Speed Company. The Czech duo Stošek - Vakoč chose bad luck in the third stage, when Martin Stošek bent his hanger and the derailleur when crossing a burnt tree stump. "I had big problems with the gear shifting, I couldn't shift the lower three and upper three pinions at all, on the others the chain was skipping. I couldn't get a good grip on the pedals, I was spinning at either 50 or 150 revs". But thanks to their cooperation, they did keep as much as possible at the front of the starting field and minimised their losses. Together they crossed the finish line in 14th position. In the overall standings after three stages, the elite duo Seewald - Stutzmann hold sixth place, the second duo Stošek - Vakoč kept the eighth place despite technical problems. We wish the boys to be very Force in the following stages.
