Wet and muddy season is here

Whether we like it or not, autumn is here in all its glory. Aside from the beautifully coloured countryside, for us cyclists, fall is all about the fact that we don't always come back from a ride as dry and clean as we went on it. So what advice can we give you to combat this weather?

A QUALITY WINDPROOF JACKET IS A MUST

Protecting your upper body from getting wet and then getting cold is the alpha and omega of every trip in bad weather. We've got a tip for you - a WINDPRO jacket that, as the name suggests, is primarily windproof, but can handle a light shower and protect you from the initial drenching. The jackets are available in black or neon yellow colour. And if you don't need to wear it right now, it folds up nicely into the back pocket. You can find the full range of WINDPRO products here.

PRO TIP: Although the WINDPRO jacket is not primarily waterproof we normally carry it with us as an outer layer. We wear a long-sleeved jersey underneath to keep the sleeves of the jacket from sticking to our bodies in a downpour. If it's a lighter shower, we'll make it home dry. You can also carry this jacket with you all the time due to its compact size when packed.

We recommend spraying the jacket with FORCE RAIN waterproofing before using it to increase water resistance.

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE HEAD AND FOOT PROTECTION

This time, however, we don't mean helmets and cycling shoes. But a hat under the helmet and shoe covers to prevent getting wet and cold. A cap is a great help when it starts to rain lightly and you have larger vents on your helmet. It partially retains water and you won't get drenched as quickly as without it. The small visor serves as a barrier against water falling into your eyes while riding. It is available in several colour options and with an extended over-the-ear piece for colder days.

Frozen and wet feet are one of the biggest enemies of cyclists. No one likes to have cold feet. To avoid these cold feelings during your ride, our shoe covers are a great help. We recommend the PU DRY or NEOPREN OVER models. Both variants have a back fastening and are equipped with reflective elements.

DO NOT FORGET TO PROTECT YOUR EYES

When riding in poor conditions and in the rain, high-quality sunglasses are great. Ideally with a photochromic lens that adapts to the current conditions during the ride and brightens or darkens based on the light rays hitting it.

We offer several models of cycling glasses that have these lenses. For example, you can see the AMBIENT model in the photos, but you can also choose between the MANTRA, GRIP, ATTIC, CREED and other models.

TIP from FORCE: What to watch out for in the rain

When driving in the rain, be careful how you brake. And it doesn't matter if you're riding on the road or in the woods. The grip of the surface is significantly lower than in dry conditions, so use your brakes with great feeling to avoid unintentional slipping of the front or rear wheel and subsequent unnecessary falls.

After returning from a ride, we recommend washing the bike with our WASH BOX or just drying it with a microfiber cloth in case of heavy soiling. After drying, clean the chain, either with a dry cloth and brake cleaner only or thoroughly using a chain cleaner. Then dry the chain and apply fresh lubricant depending on the conditions you are going into. If you're going into the woods and you know it's going to be very muddy, use FORCE EXTREME lubricant, and for less demanding conditions, just use FORCE STANDARD oil.

PRO TIP: If you go out often in rainy conditions, spray our FORCE SILICON on a cloth and spread it over the frame and lower fork legs. This will create a protective layer on the frame, which will make it harder for mud to cling and easier to wash the bike. Just be careful of the brakes, where no oil can get in!
