2024 World Cyclo-cross Championships in Tábor

The first February weekend saw the return of the world cyclocross to the Czech Republic, bringing excellent results. Czech cyclocross rider from Team Elkov Kasper, Michael Boroš, made a remarkable impression at the World Championship held in Tábor. He finished the men's race in a splendid 7th place, matching his personal best from 2017. Boroš delivered an outstanding performance, consistently staying within the top ten throughout the race.  The race, held in demanding muddy terrain, was dominated by Mathieu van der Poel, who maintained his lead with flawless riding, securing his sixth world cyclocross title.  Joris Nieuwenhuis from the Netherlands finished second, claiming his first medal in an elite race at the World Championships. Belgian rider Michael Vanthourenhout took home the bronze.  Among other Czech successes, we can mention the amazing 2nd place in the Women's U23 category by Kristýna Zemanová and the 3rd place in the junior category achieved by Kryštof Bažant.  The event in Tábor also marked the farewell to the career of Czech rider Zdeněk Štybar, who finished in 31st place. Štybar celebrated five world champion titles in his career, twice in the junior category and thrice in the elite category. Despite a puncture during the race and strong emotions, Štybar managed to finish in a respectable position and savor the atmosphere.Have a look at more photos from Tábor:
