We enter the new year with a new team. We are happy to announce that from the 2023 season we will start cooperation with the Czech elite team Canyon Northwave MTB. This team was formed in 2019 under the leadership of top Czech marathoner Kristian Hynek and has built a lot of respect in the field of elite cross-country marathon racing over the course of its existence.
Who rides for the Canyon Northwave MTB team and where do the riders appear?
Kristian Hynek, the former European XCM Champion and winner of the 2014 Cape Epic stage race, will have four riders on his team next season. The most prominent name is German Andreas Seewald, the 2021 World Cross-Country Marathon Champion in the elite category.
Other members of the team include elite rider Martin Stošek from the Czech Republic, who was ranked No. 1 in the 2021 UCI Cross-Country Marathon rankings. Then there is Swiss Marc Stutzmann, currently the 20th man in the UCI rankings for cross-country marathons, and Stefanie Dohrn from Germany, who at 30 years old is one of the absolute marathon leaders and is currently ranked 1st in the UCI XCM world rankings in the elite women's category. Stefanie also won the prestigious 4 Islands stage race in Croatia in 2019.
The team's racing calendar will be dominated by the Cape Epic stage race in South Africa, which has been likened to the bike equivalent of the Tour de France road race. The riders will also tour the World Cup cross-country marathons, some Czech Marathon Cup races, and other stage races around the world.
What FORCE products will the Canyon Northwave team carry?
From our portfolio, riders will find ORCA and LYNX helmets in both MIPS and non-MIPS versions. They will then protect their eyes with MANTRA and AMBIENT sunglasses with photochromic and mirrored lenses depending on the current conditions.
